More than 60 Dallas firefighters were called to battle a blaze Sunday afternoon in Pleasant Grove, Dallas Fire-Rescue said.
A firefighter suffered an injury to their lower leg, but was treated at the location. The injury was not from a burn, the department said in a Sunday news release.
Shortly before 4:30 p.m., the department was notified of a structure fire at an automotive shop in the 200 block of South Buckner Boulevard, just south of the intersection of Elam Road and Loop 12, the release stated.
Responding fire personnel found smoke and fire coming from the back of a two-story building, the department said. Because of how fast the fire was spreading, firefighters had to battle the blaze from outside the structure. No one was inside the business, Dallas Fire-Rescue added.
About 60-70 firefighters were called to the scene and the department deployed multiple aerial ladder pipes to put out the fire, according to Dallas Fire-Rescue. The fire was extinguished shortly before 6:30 p.m.
Much of the building was damaged in the fire and most of the roof “collapsed into the structure,” according to Dallas Fire-Rescue.
The cause of the fire had not been determined as of 8 p.m. Sunday.
