A newly built $18.5 million Highland Park home with a nine-car auto gallery was the most expensive home to hit the market in Texas in August.
Seven Dallas-Fort Worth homes were among the top 10 new listings for the month, according to a list from the Houston Association of Realtors using information from local listing services throughout the state, including North Texas Real Estate Information Systems.
The 3,000-square-foot temperature-controlled garage is a rarity even for the high-end enclave of Highland Park.
“One thing I’ve never seen is a nine-car garage in Highland Park on a brand-new house that’s for sale,” said one of the listing agents, Aaron Carroll of Douglas Elliman. “It’s a true car collector’s dream to have a house like this.”
The six-bedroom, 11-bathroom home at 3808 Potomac Ave. has double kitchen islands made of Taj Mahal quartzite, a bar with black Calcutta marble, an infinity pool with a screen next to it that pops out of the ground and a home theater.
“I went back three different times before we even started thinking about listing it, just to get all the details about the house and write it all down,” Carroll said.
The home is the first in Texas to feature Delos air and water filtration systems, Carroll said. Delos also designs wellness systems for office buildings.
“They took a sample of the water from the city of Highland Park, from this lot specifically, before they started building on it,” Carroll said. “They sent it off to labs and they figured out the best filtration system to have the best water for the entire property at all times.”
The No. 2 home on the list was listed for $13.9 million on Peytonville Avenue in Southlake. The massive estate was built in 2021 and has more than 22,000 square feet of space on a gated three acres, according to the listing. The home has seven bedrooms, 12 bathrooms, a regulation-size basketball court, a home theater and an eight-car garage.
In third was a $9.5 million listing on Versailles Avenue in Highland Park for an 8,465-square-foot home built in 2007 and remodeled this year.
Four other homes in Southlake, Highland Park and Preston Hollow also made the list with asking prices from $8.35 million to $8.6 million.
