More than 245,000 pounds of chicken strips are under recall because they may be contaminated with pieces of plastic, a federal agency has announced.
The Food Safety and Inspection Service, an agency within the U.S. Department of Agriculture, said anyone who has bought a Banquet Chicken Strip Meal should check if their product is part of the recall.
Conagra Brands Inc., the parent company of Banquet, notified the federal agency that someone complained of plastic in a chicken strip and injured their mouth, according to a Saturday news release. This is the second time this year that the company has reported a possible contamination.
Impacted products, which have been sold and shipped to retailers nationwide, have lot numbers 5009317120, 5009319220 or 5009319820 on the side of the carton. The “best if used by” dates on possibly contaminated products are Dec. 11, 2024; Jan. 1, 2025; and Jan. 7, 2025, according to the federal agency.
Those in possession of possibly contaminated products should return them to the store that sold them, or throw them away, the release stated.
No other reports of injury or illness have been reported in connection with the frozen chicken strip meal, according to the agency.
