Lonestar, CeeLo Green and 38 Special to headline the State Fair of Texas

Lonestar, formerly known as Texassee because of the country-pop band’s Texas roots, opens on the Chevrolet Main Stage at 8:30 p.m. on Sept. 29.

Lonestar, CeeLo Green and 38 Special will be among 90-plus artists who’ll perform live on three stages at the State Fair of Texas, fair officials announced Tuesday.

Fairgoers can experience a diverse music lineup — country to rhythm and blues, Norteño to electro-pop — during all 24 days of the fair at shows included with a general-admission ticket.

The fair is scheduled for Sept. 29 to Oct. 22. Season passes are now available at BigTex.com/Tickets.

This year, the fair has partnered with Nashville-based Romeo Entertainment Group, which is producing the entire music lineup. Romeo replaces Glenn Smith Presents..

Three of Lonestar’s members are from North Texas: Dean Sams, Garland; Michael Britt, Fort Worth; and Keech Rainwater, Plano. Drew Womack is from Brownwood.

Green, a five-time Grammy Award winner known for his work in hip-hop and R&B, will perform at 4 p.m. Sept. 30 on the Chevrolet Main Stage. 38 Special, best known for its 1981 hit “Hold On Loosely,” will perform at 8:30 p.m. on Oct. 8.

The other venues are the Bud Light Stage in Cotton Bowl Plaza and the Yuengling Flight Stage outside the Go Texan Pavilion. The Bud Light Stage will showcase local and regional talent. The Yuengling Flight Stage features a Friday night comedy series titled Deep Fried Comedy and other live music.
