Mavericks’ Kyrie Irving takes to social media to show off new look: ‘Goatee Kai’

Over the weekend, the Mavs star introduced fans to a version of himself they’ve probably never seen.

Kyrie Irving might have a different style entering the 2023-24 season.

Over the weekend, a video circulated of the Mavericks star introducing fans to a version of himself they’ve probably never seen. Sitting in a barber’s chair, Irving laughed as he showed off his goatee-styled facial hair.

“Bro, this is by far one of the funniest looks I’ve ever had,” Irving said in the video. “Goatee Kai, you heard? That’s my new nickname. Peak handsomeness, peak handsomeness. Goatee Kai.”

After an offseason full of changes, Irving will look to help lead the Mavericks back to the playoffs after a disappointing 38-44 finish last season. The eight-time All-Star opted to rejoin the Mavericks this summer, agreeing to a three-year, $126 million contract in June.

Irving’s time as an unrestricted free agent lasted less than an hour.

With Irving under contract through the 2026 offseason, the Mavericks expect Luka Doncic and Irving to form one of the league’s best scoring tandems and lead their push toward the franchise’s first NBA Finals since 2011.

Will “Goatee Kai” make an appearance for Dallas’ season opener against San Antonio on Oct. 25?
