How will the Stars look to build off a return trip to the Western Conference finals?

The hockey season has come and gone, and the Dallas Stars’ search for another Stanley Cup has continued on for another season.

After falling to Vegas in the Western Conference finals, the Stars were forced to watch the Golden Knights hoist the Cup over their heads a few weeks later after dispatching of the Florida Panthers.

The Stars are now looking to regroup and make another run in 2023-24.

Key dates

Stars training camp: Thursday, Sept. 21 through Sunday, Sept. 24 in Cedar Park

First preseason game: Sunday, Sept. 24 against Arizona (Full preseason schedule.)

NHL draft

The Stars did not have a first- or third-round pick going into the draft, but Dallas still came away with six new prospects to develop from the draft.

Dallas selected three forwards, two defensemen and a goalie in Rounds 2-7. A trade with Nashville let Dallas leap back into the third round to acquire center Brad Gardiner from the OHL before picking up some “tremendous value” in the fourth round. (Read more.)

Free agency

The Dallas Stars were one of the NHL’s most efficient offensive teams last season. It appears that aspect of the team’s game will get another boost. In early July, the Stars announced that they signed former Nashville Predators forward Matt Duchene to a one-year, $3 million deal. (Read more.)
