Shortly before 9:30 a.m. Friday, officers responded to a shooting in the 100 block of South Carroll Avenue, police said. Investigators learned that Ruback and his partner were making a cash delivery to a business in the area.

One of the suspects approached Ruback as the guard was walking up to the business and shot him, police said. The suspect then picked up the bag of cash Ruback was trying to deliver and drove away from the area in a white Chevrolet Impala with a second suspect, according to police.
